Overview
Double-Healer Hunter is the ultimate attrition comp. A Disc Priest and Resto Druid make your team nearly unkillable, while the BM hunter chips away with pet damage, Freezing Traps, and Viper Sting mana drain. The enemy has to solve a puzzle: kill through two healers and a trapper, or run out of mana trying.
Your win condition is patience. You layer crowd control — Freezing Trap, Cyclone, Psychic Scream, Intimidation — to deny casts, drain the enemy healer with Viper Sting and Mana Burn, and never take a bad trade. Kills come late, when a target is out of mana and out of cooldowns, and your Bestial Wrath burst finally sticks.
Win condition
Starve the enemy healer with Viper Sting and Mana Burn while chaining CC (Freezing Trap on their support, Cyclone on the healer), then convert the mana lead into a kill with Bestial Wrath + Kill Command + Intimidation on a drained, un-peeled target.
Strengths
- +Two healers plus a trapper — almost impossible to kill in a straight fight
- +Viper Sting + Mana Burn drain the enemy dry; you win the mana game every time
- +Layered CC: Freezing Trap, Cyclone, Psychic Scream, and Intimidation lock the whole enemy team
Weaknesses
- −Low kill pressure — one BM hunter has to earn every kill through walls of healing
- −Relentless instant cleave (TSG, warrior teams) can train a healer through your peels before mana matters
Cooldown timeline
Open by Freezing Trapping the enemy healer or off-DPS and starting Viper Sting on the healer to bleed mana. Grind the neutral game: priest Mana Burns the healer, druid keeps HoTs rolling and Cyclones incoming CC or the healer at kill windows. When their healer is low on mana, commit: hunter pops Bestial Wrath (The Beast Within), Kill Command and Intimidation stun on the kill target while the druid Cyclones the enemy healer and the priest Psychic Screams their peel. Defensively, cycle Pain Suppression, Barkskin, Nature's Swiftness, pet Intimidation peels, and re-trap any melee training a healer.
Positioning
The hunter plays maximum range, managing the deadzone and keeping trap and Viper Sting lines open on the enemy healer. Both healers pillar for LoS and stagger so a single swap can't collapse the team. Kite melee with Frost Trap, Wing Clip, Concussive Shot, and Nature's Grasp roots, and always keep a Freezing Trap ready to reset a target that jumps a healer.
Vs. the meta
Two warriors plus a shaman generate instant, uninterruptible pressure that can burst a healer through your peels before mana ever matters. Freezing Trap and Intimidation one warrior off the swap, Cyclone the shaman during their Recklessness, and Psychic Scream to break a kill attempt. Keep both healers pillared and don't let a warrior free-cast Mortal Strike on the druid — you must out-peel, not out-last.
RLS applies constant DoT + Fear + rogue pressure and purges your HoTs, so the long game is closer than usual. Trap and Intimidation the rogue off your healers, have the priest dispel UA carefully and Mass Dispel Fear, and use Viper Sting to drain the shaman — if their Resto Shaman runs low, their pressure collapses and you win the attrition race.
Gear requirements
- ▸Hunter: resilience + a high-end ranged weapon and agility for burst; both healers stack resilience and stamina to survive swaps
- ▸Priest and druid prioritize mp5 and mana pool — the comp is built to outlast, so raw longevity beats throughput
Tips
- •Keep Viper Sting rolling on the enemy healer at all times — the mana drain is your primary win condition, not hunter damage.
- •Freezing Trap is for peeling and resetting, not just opening; save one for the melee that dives a healer.
- •Cyclone the enemy healer at your kill windows and to eat incoming CC on your team — timing beats spamming it.
- •Only commit Bestial Wrath when the enemy healer is drained or locked — a burst into full mana and cooldowns is wasted.
