Feral (Cat) Druid PvP Guide

Feral (Cat) PvP is a hybrid melee-and-utility spec. You bring bleed pressure (Rip, Rake), stealth openers (Pounce stun), and the Druid utility kit — Cyclone, Roots, off-heals, Innervate and shapeshifting to break slows/roots. Feral Druids are slippery: shift out of every root, Travel Form to reposition, and swap between cat damage and caster-form healing.

Overview

You play a shift-heavy game: open from stealth with Pounce, apply bleeds, and constantly shift to stay mobile and unrooted while mixing in Cyclone and off-heals.

Strengths

  • +Shapeshifting breaks roots/slows — extremely mobile and slippery
  • +Bleed pressure plus Pounce stun opener from stealth
  • +Full Druid utility — Cyclone, Roots, off-heals, Innervate

Weaknesses

  • Lower burst than a Rogue; relies on bleeds + sustained pressure
  • Mana/form juggling is demanding; squishy in caster form

Stat priority & caps (arena)

Stat caps (arena)

StatCap
Resilience490 rating
Hit Rating (vs players)79 rating
  • Resilience: No hard cap — ~350 is the 2v2 entry point, 490+ is competitive. Reduces crit chance, crit damage and DoT damage taken.
  • Hit Rating (vs players): 5% (~79 rating) caps yellow special-attack misses against same-level players. White dual-wield misses stay high but matter less in arena.

Recommended talent build

0/44/17 · Raid

The standard Feral build: Mangle at the core with full cat scaling (Predatory Instincts, Leader of the Pack) and the tanking fundamentals intact — the same 0/44/17 skeleton tanks and cats share, played from the DPS side.

Opener & pressure

  1. 1Open from stealth with Pounce (stun) → build combo points with Shred/Mangle.
  2. 2Apply Rip and keep Rake up for bleed pressure; Mangle amplifies bleeds.
  3. 3Shift out of roots/slows constantly; Travel Form to reposition/chase.
  4. 4Cyclone the healer or Roots the melee off you/your partner as needed.
  5. 5Shift to caster form for a clutch Regrowth/Healing Touch; Barkskin + trinket to survive.

Feral cat is about relentless pressure and slipperiness. Never sit rooted — shift immediately — and keep bleeds ticking while you mix in Cyclone and Roots for control. You're a hybrid, so read the game: full pressure when you're winning, off-heal and peel when your partner needs it. Manage Rage/Energy and mana across form swaps.

  • Over-committing to damage when a Cyclone/off-heal would win the round.

FAQ

Is Feral Druid good in arena?

It's a strong hybrid — mobility, bleeds and Cyclone/off-heal utility make it slippery and useful, though its burst is lower than a Rogue's. Rewards a skilled, shift-heavy player.

Why is shifting so important?

Shapeshifting removes roots and movement-slows, so a Feral can escape kites and stick to targets better than almost any other melee.
