Restoration Druid PvP Guide

Restoration Druid is arguably the best arena healer in TBC. HoTs (Rejuvenation, Lifebloom, Regrowth) heal while you're on the move or being trained, so you keep your team alive even under heavy melee pressure — and shapeshifting breaks roots and slows to stay mobile. Add Cyclone, Roots, Barkskin and Innervate, and the Resto Druid is a mobile, control-rich healer that's extremely hard to kill.

Overview

You play a kiting HoT game: keep rolling HoTs on the trained target, shift out of every root/slow, and juke melee around pillars while Cycloning to peel.

Strengths

  • +HoTs heal on the move — thrive under melee train pressure
  • +Shapeshift breaks roots/slows for elite mobility
  • +Cyclone, Roots and Barkskin add control and survivability

Weaknesses

  • Weak burst healing — a hard swap can outrun HoTs
  • No Pain Suppression-style hard cooldown; relies on kiting

Healing & kiting

  1. 1Keep Lifebloom + Rejuvenation rolling on the trained partner; Regrowth for a bigger tick.
  2. 2Shift out of roots/slows immediately; Travel/cat form to kite melee around pillars.
  3. 3Cyclone the kill target or a melee to peel; Entangling Roots to create distance.
  4. 4Barkskin when trained to keep casting; trinket the hard CC.
  5. 5Innervate to refill mana in long games; pre-HoT before a swap.

Resto Druid is a kiting healer — you almost never stand still. Roll HoTs, shift out of every root, and run melee around line-of-sight while your HoTs tick your partner up. Use Cyclone to peel or to CC a healer, and bank Barkskin to keep healing when caught. Your weakness is a coordinated hard swap, so pre-HoT and body-block to survive it.

FAQ

Is Resto Druid the best arena healer?

It's among the very best — HoT-while-moving and shapeshift mobility let it survive melee trains that other healers can't, plus Cyclone control. Weak to hard burst swaps.

How does a Resto Druid survive being trained?

Rolling HoTs that heal on the move, shifting out of roots/slows, kiting around pillars, Barkskin, and the PvP trinket. It heals while running rather than standing to cast.
