Fury Warrior PvE Guide

Fury is the standard raid DPS Warrior in TBC — a dual-wielding, rage-hungry spec that posts top-tier melee numbers when it's fed rage and hit-capped. Bloodthirst, Whirlwind and a Heroic Strike rage dump form a fast, satisfying rotation that scales hard with gear.

Overview

Your whole game is white-hit uptime and rage management: the more you swing, the more Bloodthirst and Heroic Strike you get, so hit and expertise matter enormously.

Strengths

  • +Top-tier sustained melee raid DPS
  • +Scales extremely well with gear and Bloodlust
  • +Strong cleave with Whirlwind + Cleave

Weaknesses

  • Very hit/expertise dependent to hit hard
  • Rage-starved on movement or low gear

Hit Rating142 rating

  • Hit Rating: 9% special-attack (yellow) cap when striking a boss from behind. Dual-wield white swings need ~24% and are not worth chasing.
  • Expertise: 26 expertise (≈102 rating) removes a boss's 6.5% dodge — each point of expertise cuts dodge/parry by 0.25%. Parry only happens from the front, so staying behind means you only need to beat dodge.

Recommended talent build

21/40/0 · Raid

The classic 21/40 Fury build: Bloodthirst, Flurry, Rampage and Improved Slam-less pure sustained damage, with Arms dipped for Impale crit scaling. This is TBC's benchmark melee DPS build once you hold two decent one-handers.

Single-target rotation

  1. 1Keep Battle Shout up; stay in Berserker Stance.
  2. 2Bloodthirst on cooldown, then Whirlwind on cooldown.
  3. 3Dump excess rage into Heroic Strike (queue it) — never rage-cap.
  4. 4Execute below 20%; Whirlwind + Cleave on multi-target.
  5. 5Death Wish + Recklessness + trinkets aligned with Bloodlust.

Prioritize Bloodthirst > Whirlwind, and use Heroic Strike to bleed off excess rage without clipping swings. Reach the hit cap and stack expertise before pure AP — a missed or dodged special is huge lost rage and damage. Position behind the boss to avoid parries.
