Rage Winterchill

Rage Winterchill Strategy — Mount Hyjal

Phase 3 · Mount Hyjal · 1-2 tanks, 5 healers, rest dps

The first Hyjal boss, a lich reached after clearing the first wave of Anetheron's undead trash. A single-phase fight defined by two debuffs — Death and Decay under the raid and Icebolt, which roots a random player in a frost tomb.

Fight phases

  1. 1

    Single phase

Tank Winterchill in place; move out of Death and Decay pools, dispel/heal Icebolt targets, and burn him before Frost Armor and Chill Nova whittle the raid.

By role

Tanks

Hold Winterchill still so the raid always knows where Death and Decay will land. His melee is light — this is a raid-damage fight, not a tank check.

Healers

Icebolt roots a random player and hits hard while they're tombed — keep them topped until it breaks. Chill Nova is periodic raid AoE; keep everyone above the Death and Decay tick.

DPS

Step out of Death and Decay the instant it drops and keep DPS uptime high — he ramps up as the fight drags. Ranged help clear stray undead adds from the wave.

Common mistakes

  • Standing in Death and Decay chasing uptime.
  • Ignoring an Icebolt target until they die tombed.
